Raymond Basiri, Deputy Agency Information Officer
Raymond Basiri serves the State and Consumer Services Agency as the Deputy Agency Information Officer. Mr. Basiri's public service started with the Department of General Services in 1992 as an engineer. In 2007, he moved to DMV to work on modernizing their legacy applications and direct the activities of the eGovernment team in support of their mission critical and public facing applications. On his last assignment at DMV, Basiri led the Infrastructure teams responsible for 600 servers throughout California. His efforts at DMV dramatically changed how the department manage, buy and deploy their IT services by utilizing virtualization technologies and eliminating redundancies through consolidation.
Prior to joining the State of California, Mr. Basiri worked for the Intel Corporation in Folsom and Santa Clara as a computer engineer. In 1998, he was selected as the CFO for a non-profit home for children organization. His mission has been to provide full care for those children regardless of their age, race, gender, belief or health.
Mr. Basiri received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering from Sacramento State University in 1991 and brings over 20 years of experience in management and engineering. He is a Microsoft Certified Engineer and attended the IT Leaders Academy XVI in 2008.
Mr. Basiri lives in the Sacramento suburb with his wife and son.
